Got the gears

I had new gears installed today. Added the 3" lift and 35" tires a couple of weeks ago. The stock tires were 33" and I had the 4.10 gears on my 2006 F250 4x4 V10.
The truck was definitely a little bit more sluggish when I had the 35's installed. I was going to put in 4.88's for the pulling power as I tow a lot. However I chickened out and went with the 4.56's. I just had it done today so I do not have a lot of time on the new gears, but my first impression is that it is very close to the original gearing. I had figured that it would be like having 4.30 gears with the 33" stock tires. I guess it may be like that but it certainly doesn't seem to be tire smoking low gearing. At highway speed I am only about 200rpm above what I used to be.
The real test will be when I get a trailer hooked up, but that will have to wait until I get a few hundred miles on her to break in the gears. In retrospect the 4.88's probably would not have been that bad. Time will tell if I made the right choice.

I hear ya bud. I was doing the same thing debating over 4.56 or 4.88's.

I thought 4.88's on 36's would be too low, but I think they would have been perfect.

With the 4.56's, I'm just slightly below the 2250 rpm sweet spot I was trying to get. 4.88's would have put me right in the 2250 - 2500 rpm range.
