worn ball joints
recently had ford service my 2000 2wd gas v8 supercab shortbed 410 rear 5 spd manual. truck has fairly new wrangler at's and front end feels good. truck is not taken off road or abused. they said my ball joints were wearing. only 40000 miles on truck. i have never had problems like that with any vehicle i have owned. anyone else have front end problems with this low mileage? my dealer is a good one in small town.

Most topic's on those are on the 4x4's around here. As far as yours wearing out if they are anything like the 4x4's go ahead and replace them with moog joints if you can get them..

1999 Ford supercab dually 4x4 4.10 auto. At 45,000 the ball joints went out. Drove fine, just noticed that the wheels were leaning inward. By the end of the week I had ruined both fairly new front tires. Ford garage chuckled and said this was "normal". Also said I would be back in another 45,000 miles for another set. These early ball joints from ford were junk. Replace yours with aftermarket, should be fine.
