I own a 2003 E-350 V-10. I was wondering if there is an easy way to tell which tranny the truck has.I didn't ask when I bought it and can't find anything in my paperwork to determine if it has the 4R70 or 4R100.I'm considering upgrades for the transmission and I do hope since the truck is a 350 with V-10 they put the 4R100 in it.
The 4R70 has never been able to handle the torque of the V10. You have a 4R100.
One way to be sure is look at the blue tag on the driver's door jamb. There will be a TR, and under it will be the letter E. E means 4R100, U means 4R70.

Thanks Casey.I just checked that tag and you are correct the truck does have a 4R100 transmission which did make me happy as I thought a 4R70 wouldn't be well suited for the V-10
