Fun, Sun and Bummer!

Had a great time relaxing in the sun at the Outer Banks of NC last week.

Even took time out to help a fellow beach lover out of a jamb.

Then we decided to leave and head home. Bad idea. I did learn that crap can hit the fan in a hurry.

This is my new BMW (well my insurance company bought it)

And last but not least the parts of my Tundra and Nissan that we also bought.

Thought I would post these as a reminder that you need to watch the road all the times when in heavy traffic. I took my eyes off the road for no more that 2 seconds at 40MPH and BAM. 100% my fault. Thank God no one was hurt bad. I will have to replace my bumper and mounts. Paint the front fenders and hood. No body damage other than paint. I did have to patch the power steering cooler line that was pinched at impact. My insurance company told me to fix it right. Looking for Ideas. I plan on paying the extra and having the entire truck painted.
I am thinking about the paint scheme that starts at the bottom black and fades to red about 1/3 to 1/2 way up the doors. Any one know pros or cons about doing this. I saw a new Cheby at the beach that was done like that and it looked good. I think the guy said is was a Cotton Patch Custom.
Anyway, any ideas are welcome.

You drove halfway through a BMW and all it did was knock the rig off the nose. That's funny. I'm glad no was was torn up.

Fade paint jobs were cheesy in the 80's when they started and they're cheesy now. The only place you'll ever see one anymore is on a chevy pick up...if that tell's you anything. My vote is leave it all red.

Gotta love the way your sd stood up to that accident, you smashed 1 car and tore up 2 more with only minor damage to your rig. Another vote for all red, I have to aggree with cookie fade paint jobs are still cheesy.

Its a good thing that BMW was a car and not a motorcycle,I'm afraid things would have been a lot worse.I'm going to the outer banks the week after next and was thinking about taking my bike,I'm having second thoughts now.LOL.Its good to here no one was hurt.

Also glad nobody was hurt. I also think you should stick with red. I looks good as is. I like your custom rack on the front. I have been wanting to come up with something for our fly rods....

Thanks for you advice, Red it will stay.

Concord is mid state, Just northeast of Charlotte.

I too am glad no bikes were involved. All the drivers involved agreed that they made a rapid stop, and my anti-lock brakes did not. Lots of bikes visit the Outerbanks. Lots of things to see. Lots of traffic there now. When I first started going 30 yrs ago, no traffic at all. I think you will be safe and enjoy your trip as I don't plan on being there. Go and enjoy.
Also glad nobody was hurt. I also think you should stick with red. I looks good as is. I like your custom rack on the front. I have been wanting to come up with something for our fly rods....
My rack was left in a dumpster there. My friend that built that one was with me and decided he build a new one easier than repair that one. The rack is what limited the damage to my rig. I believe if it had not been there the BMW would have went under the truck and tore up the steering and front end.

Any beer left in the cooler? It's great that no one was hurt, but I also hate to see good beer go to waste.

Yes, thank God and Ford. I was just doing my part to curb foreign imports. I know that I should learn to keep my mouth shut at times, but sometimes things just have to be said. The Beemer owner stated how proud he was that all four doors still opened after an impact like that. After the third or fourth time of hearing this, I made the statement for all to here, that I was proud of the way that my Superduty faired as well. I told how all four of my doors worked as well as my hood and tailgate. I also noted that my headlights and taillights worked. I don't think the Beemer guy thought much of the statement, but all the others there all smiled and the Deputy chuckled a bit. I think that they had heard the crumple zone story enough also.

All that cooler has ever had in it is ice and dead fish. The beer and drink cooler was in the back and is much larger. Good news, didn't break a single bottle. Did slide it forward a little.

Wow is as good a any way to put it. As far as my insurance, we'll just have to see. I have had a clean driving record for many years and just maybe that might count for something. If not I'll see you on the Escort Forum, or maybe start a zx250 save the truck fund.
Here's what I have to fix. The rear glass and other stuff from the BMW scratched the paint on the hood and fenders and even on top. As soon as the race crowd and holiday crowd slows, I will get it fixed. I feel like everyone on the road is looking at me and wondering why haven't you fixed that yet?

I also vote for leaving it the same red as it is now. You don't see too many Superdutys running around with a custom paintjob like that. One of the few times I saw one like that, it was REALLY decked out. I know it was a Superduty, but I almost couldn't tell. You could however take this opportunity to upgrade to newer badges and/or a better quality of paint.
