OK, ok, since no one else has said it I guess I better chime in. First, you must understand that the following statements are put out there for entertainment only and are not condoned by, believed in, followed by, enforced by, etc the writer of these comments.....
That being said...
Ok, distributor hitting the firewall. First disconnect the battery, then drain all the fluids, now disconenct all the wiring and hoses, drop the tranny x-member and pull the engine mount bolts. Now pull the boat anchor out of there and take it to you local marina for disposal.......
Just kidding. you might check the condition of your tranny and engine mounts to see if they are really worn and letting the engine lay back.
Dang,I love those old Y-blocks,ran a 56 Ford with a .150 over 292 in 1964 at the dirt track. Chevy must of loved that deep skirt Y-block design too, they incorporated in to their LT1,I think that's the one, also loved those cross bolted mains as per the 1963 427 FE motor,LOL!!
Thats funny! Hotrod 48 Chevy did have a motor with the distributor in the front, the LT1.
You got me. I had totally forgot about those stinkin LT1's. I stand corrected that Chevy did put a distributor at the front. I should think a little harder next time. Thanks for correcting me.
OK guys. I'm not ging to to dump it in the ocean. I admitt I don't know a thing about cars except I like the older ones and usually the people involved. However my learning curve is going straight up as I continue with the struggles of the project. My daughter asked me why I was smiling at breakfast today and I told her I was thinking of some of the replies. Showed the guy that is helping me that picture of the one engine and he he got a kick out of it but do you use it? Tomorrow I'll have to repair the battery post that broke today. Guess I'll have to get my welder out. Have a nice Memorial Day.
