Replacing AC condenser

Don't know if the later condenser will fit. If the old condenser is ok, no need to change just to convert to R134A. I converted my '83 F350 and several other vehicles and they all work great with the original condensers. Here's what I recommend: 1.New accumulator/dryer with R134A compatible desiccant. 2.New R134A orfice tube (red/white). 3.High Pressure Cut-Out Switch (HPCO, I can't find locally so I get them from J.C. Whitney). 4.Drain as much mineral oil as you can and use 8 to 10 ounces of polyolester (POL) refrigerant oil. I get a Castrol kit that includes oil, new o-rings, new fittings, and labels (from Advance Auto Parts). 5.Replace any o-rings or hoses that show any signs of leakage. 6.Pull a good vacuum on the system. 7.Charge with R134A at 85% (by weight) of the original R12 charge. Ex: Original charge of 48 oz. of R12 X 0.85 = 40.8 (or 41) oz. of R134A. 8. Adjust cycling switch 1/8 to 1 turn CCW if necessary. Here is a good link: http://www.forparts.com/techretrofit.htm

I have an 86 F150 I converted my AC last year the condenser looks to be the original all I did was rinse with water and mild detergent, some of old oil that harden from not running came out. I then air dried let it sit in the sun for several hour making sure all the moisture was out, changed the o-rings couple of hoses the drier the orfice tube, everything works great.
