I took my 1969 Mustang to the World Ford Challenge this past weekend. (Louisville to St. Louis) My brother drove pop's F350 with a 460 (460 has headers and full exhaust & truck has new trans and converter) I drove my F250. We both pulled box trailers with our cars. Sad to say, pop's 460 kicked my butt. I could have pushed harder but I thought about smoking my trans and got out of it. My F250 ran like a champ though.
As for the race itself, my Mustang went faster than ever. A smoking fast 10.45@127MPH. I managed to get beat anyway... The event also featured a diesel truck challenge. It was an open comp stlye bracket race. The bulk of the trucks were 15 second quarter mile times. I think one of them was in the 14s.
AHEM.
I bet there are faster ford trucks out there.
I hope.
At a race in Bowling Green, KY I watched a DuraMax run in the 12s. No kidding. It was awesome. So I expected the same from Ford guys but it was not to be... I didn't race my truck, as I was very busy keeping my (and my brother's) car running.
So step it up guys! I want to see some fast ford trucks at a drag race!
