The next generation should fit cause the body shell was the same.
Google LMC Truck.
If you're talking about a factory parts manual, you'd want the 80-85 F100 to F350 books (one is part numbers, the other illustrations). They come up on ebay once in a great while....not cheap though.
I have a 80-84 version, still brand new, I'll sell for $80, or I have just the part number one (used) for $50.
It would be quite a chore to fit a dash from a 99-05 truck into your 85. For one thing, I believe the speedometer is run electronically on the new truck as opposed to a mechanical cable running the speedo in your truck. You would probably have to rewire the whole dash to get the gauges and all to work, and fabricate something to get the dash itself in the truck. The dash from a 87-92 truck would be easier, after 92 was when they went with electric speedos.
Check out LMC truck or NPD(National Parts Depot) for interior parts for your truck, I have purchased from both with great success.
You would also have the same problems as a full cab swap.
Fabricate, and Mod Wiring...
Differences in Brake and Clutch Pedal and linkages.
Steering column and mounts...
Those are the major reasons why the 1980 to 1999 F-series trucks have the same dash as the 1980 to 1986 F-series Pickup. That and the room behind the dash because of the different firewall etc...
It would be easier to switch the cabs with a newer model. IMO.
And just like I said in the other thread. That could be quite a Job, but not impossible.
