"clink" from front end

"clink" from front end
when i hit a bump or pothole or something of the sort i hear a loud "clink clink" noise coming from the front left wheel... i know motors pretty well but not suspension or drivetrains yet....what could this be? it's an 05 f250 v8 with 11k miles. thanks

Is your truck 2WD or 4WD?
Could be a loose shock mount, bad sway bar bushing, or if it's 4WD then check where the stub shaft/U-joint are at the back of the wheel/hub assembly. There's a metal ring that's pressed in that can come loose.

it's 4WD, i'm not sure why they even make 2WD trucks :P thanks i'll check those out tomorrow. i looked around earlier but didn't see anything that looked peculiar....although there are a lot of damn bars running every which way down there!

It could also be something more serious, so check if the axle stubs rotate with the hubs unlocked. If they are "gritty" or just plain stuck, the inner spindle bearing (little needle bearnig the axle rides in) is probably shot.

My 1st post
I had a noise on my F-150 years ago and tried bouncing on the bumber and everything but couldnt reproduce to clink. Then I took off the shocks and one of them had about 1/2" of slop causing a clink on the rebound, a defective shock.
