Differances between pre-'73 Dana 60 vs. post-'73

I am going to change the Dana 60 rearend on my '65 (it's a 4:56) to a later/wider Dana 60 with more appropriate gearing for a 390. I am aware of the width differances and such, but is there a dimensional differance from the axle centerline to the u-joint centerline? To further clarify...What I need to know is will my existing driveshaft hookup without modifying its length? Surely someone has done this with a Dana 60.
Thanks!

I believe the centerline distance for the Ford spec Dana 60 never changed. There are some u-joint yoke differences and possibly a pinion spline count difference. The yoke diff can likely be corrected with a crossover u-joint. If not, the yoke might interchange from your old axle, unless the spline count is different.
