Does anybody out there know how to adjust the automatic choke on the 2V carb on my '72 302. The engine has to be almost completely warmed up before it will come off of fast idle. The choke seems to work OK in that it opens pretty soon as the engine warms up. It's a pain driving in traffic and trying to hold it back when it wants to idle so fast.
Replace it with an electric choke.
They work better.
The choke housing has to be indexed correctly.
The linkage has to work freely.
The settings have to be done correctly.
The choke butterfly has to be set correctly.
Have you tried do a google for

Actually, if I could find a stock manual choke setup at the wreckers that would match the other ***** on my dash I would swap it in. Then I would have complete control and it would be simple and reliable. What do you think?
sounds similar to my former problem - it was a linkage issue. Started with manual choke, then electric... Ultimately I'm back to an automatic. the carburetor guys at "pony" said that electric chokes open too quickly. they said manual chokes were ok but they sell all their carbs w/ automatic.
