problem No Fuel/ Spark

Well I tried to go through and see if there was a previous post but being hungry and tired cut that short.

Here it is
I have a 1986 BII it is an Automatic. When you crank it no spark but as soon as the key is turned to the off position you get 1 spark. As for the fuel when I turn on the key all I get is the EEC relay clicking on and no Fuel pump relay. And yes the fuel pump relay is brand new last week. Also I bypassed the relay for the fuel and the pumps DO work. So if anyone out there could help that would be greatly appreciated.

1st things I think I would do:

1) You hear the EEC relay "click," but is it closing? put a voltmeter on the red wire to see if there's power getting through the relay. Then follow that red wire to the ICM, PCM, fuel pump relay, and so on, to make sure that power is getting to the rest of the engine management system. If you don't have one, you'll want to get a wiring diagram.
2) Check PCM grounds. Bad grounds can cause all kinds of problems.
3) Might try pulling codes. If you can't get anything, that could indicate a problems in EEC-IV power/ground. If you do get codes, that might help narrow the problem down.

well found out what it was. Turns out that the main relay for powering the EEC corroded and in turn fried the computer. I put the EEC from my 86 stick in and bypassed the relay and it fired right up. But upon further research found out the computers for an automatic and stick are NOT interchangeable. The vehicle WILL start but when driving the Automatic wont shift. I called Ford and the only 2 computers you can use both come out of a 1986 automatic and have the part numbers as follows:

F6TF-12A650-P1A
and
F6TF-12A650-P2A

Also the same information applies to the Rangers too and all of the 1986 Ranger/Bronco II computers for automatic are interchangeable
