Auto Swap

So i want to swap an AOD into my F-100 with a 302, convert it from standard to Auto. But i don't know which AOD to get and what else would be needed for this conversion? Are locking torque convertors an option? Ect.

any out of a v8 will do. look for a lincoln mark vii they had the longer tailshafts and aren't as popular and usually weren't hot rodded like one out of a stang. stock convertors lock up 3 and 4 in the aod. if you go to a one piece input shaft=no lockup. or there are valve bodies ie. lentechs that offer electronic control of lock up.

Well my problem is i need to call up the junk yard and give them a year and any defining marks. Also, how hard is it to install one in a 302 f-100?

What kind of torque converter/flywheel do i need and such?

all the 302/5.0 flexplates I've seen AOD, C6 and C4 are all the same.

should i just take the torque convertor/flexplate out of the truck i get it from? I'm just wondering where and if a lock-up convertor will work with it.

The AOD has a lockup torque converter.

Get everything from one truck, as I said in the other thread you started. Why did you split this conversation into two posts? It's a lot easier to follow if it stays in one post.
