My Explorer just failed a state inspection because of a new law stating that the check engine light has to be off. The tech who checked out my Explorer said I had a bad Catalytic converter. Long story short, I dropped a lot of money and the check engine light is still on, despite driving around for 100+ miles, thinking the light would turn itself off.
How do I turn this thing off, or reset it? I have a retry at the inspection in a few days, so any and all information would be helpful!

The light may not go out just because the problem has been fixed. You can unhook the battery for 5 minutes which will reset the computer and the light. If it comes back on, you still have a problem. Also, in some states when they check emissions, if they can tell that the light has been reset recently (varies by state), they may not pass it. When you take it back, make sure you take your receipts and explain that you had repairs done and that the computer was reset as part of the repair process.
