Is it running too lean or something?

I took the '05 out on the highway today, first time in a few days...

It still making the noise that the dealer determined was spark knock, although they offered no cure, and called it "normal"...

It seems like it is sucking a lot of air in, at about 3/4ths throttle it sounds like air blowing in a hurricane or something similar, and when I give it full throttle, no problem, no knock, no air noise, nothing...

Another thing it does...sometimes when I stop or park it, it will idle down, sometimes it will idle up, sometimes it will do both...

The Local Dealer has been zero help to me, and the nearest reputable dealer that I know of is in Houston, and I don't want to go down there and have them tell me that A) they need to keep the truck (hindering me transportationless) and B) drive all the way down there to be told the same thing, cause it will cost me about $30 in gas, which is a waste IMO...

Any ideas? I've tried cleaning the MAF with Electronic Cleaner and Running Seafoam in the gas (I did that about a hundred miles ago, I've been having this problem for about a thousand miles, just haven't had the time to address it until now)...

Just to add, it has a record of Bad EGR Valves, two in fact...

Here's a list of TSB's that may help:

Rough Idle:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/tsb/full...p?tsb=05-23-18

Spark Knock:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/tsb/full...php?tsb=06-3-3

These TSB's and more are all listed on this site. You could print them out and take it to your service manager.

I took my truck in about 2 weeks ago concerning a rough idle and sluggish acceleration. The dealer did a leak down test and found a bad injector. Once changed out my truck was back to being a champ.

TSB 06-4-7 addresses knocking noises with the 2005 4.6L if it is a mechanical knock even heard when under idle conditions.
You should not have any spark knock, since the knock sensor should adjust as needed. You dealer is side stepping you and no it is not norm,l!!

I've accepted the light knocking noise, like a diesel, after reading the TSB's on this site. BTW...cannot thank FTE for putting that information out there for us!!!!!

there is no degradation in performance in my case. The air intake sound you explained is odd. You didn't modify the air intake at all, or notice if your air cleaner tray isn't latched down completely? It's almost as if you're hearing the throttle body open, which you get with aftermarket air intakes that remove the silencer, particularly at those throttle level.

yep...100% stock...

as for the knock, its not a dieseling sound, is more of a penny in a jar sound...
