I've read post's back to '03 regarding the rear air blowing hot air, while the front continues to blow cold.
I have the ETAC system and the rear air blows hot air - almost as if the heater were on - then cold air.
My question is, is there a "blend" door for the rear unit as well - some posts I've read imply the blend door is under the dash and others behind the rear interior quarter panel.
I understand a blend door under the dash...
Some posts imply the rear air is in fact coming from the rear air conditioner and others not...
It does not seem to matter - at idle, or cruising or pulling a load, the rear "air" cycles between hot and cold.
the rear unit is its own unit. yes it has a blend door. to gain acess you remove the rear passanger side panel. you also have to unbolt the seat belts to get to it.
Does anyone have a posted procedure for removing the rear panel? My wife's 04 Expedition quit blowing air from the rear vents and all the cold air comes out of the front intake next to the rear right passenger seat. I believe it's a blend door issue and need to get into it to investigate. Before it shut off from blowing, it was making strange thumping noises intermittently. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.
There are lots of directions and threads here. Search for rear air and blend door. There are two blend doors in the back, and it is the blend door actuator which breaks, not the blend door itself. So you cannot switch from floor to ceiling vents but you can change the temperature, correct? If that is the case the only thing you need to remove is the change tray under the p/s rear quarter window. Flex the long sides in and work it out. The actuator is the beige box right there.
