The stock 2 barrel carb on my rebuild is not the greatest. What is a logical replacement for the Auto Lite to juice things up a bit ? Happy holidays everyone.
You didn't say whether or not you want a four barrel. If you want a four barrel and if the engine is not seriously modified I'd get an edelbrock performer intake and a 600 or 650 cfm holley carb. If you wanted another two barrel I'd go for the holley 500 cfm 2bbl with some spacers under it. Hope this helps.
I just got duals on my 1970 f-250 4x4 with a 360 in it.
I Had a muffler shop put oem type mustang mufflers on it.
Not really much difference in power that i can feel. My truck has 4.11 gears, so it runs through the gears pretty quick regardless.
I think the bottleneck on FE engines is the exhaust manifolds.
I ran my original 360 with duals and the factory 2V. I would have to say it ran very good. Power was great. Not a speed demon, but I beat a 5 speed Z24 with it ) Now it has a 428 4V with 2 1/2 exhaust and headers. It really goes now, for a heavy brick )
>>Don, A 360 with 4.11 gears, how do you keep from melting the
tires off??
With lots of weight!!
when something rusts, breaks or falls off, replace it with something heavier!!..
I've got the bed lined with checker plate, bumpers are channel iron, I've lost count of the number of leafs in the springs, i'm running ancient 7.50x17 tires on split rims. Heck, the unsprung weight alone of this thing is probably heavier than two new chevs..
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Mar-02 AT 08:26 PM (EST)]That's the one I got! Part Number 0-4412S (S stands for "shiny"). Absolutely the best bang for my buck. The only other mods I have done are the Accel Super Coil and the XR700 electronic ignition system put out by Crane Cams. Other than that the engine is stock. More power than I'll ever need just puttin' around town.
