temp gauge not working.....quick fix please??

My temp gauge stopped working over the weekend and I'm wondering if anyone knows what a quick test would be or possible commom problem with those units. It seemed to be working fine up until today I guess which now it is reading cold the whole time even though when I put on the heat the air is hot.

I haven't changed the coolant in a while. If you can think of anything let me know. This site is awesome!

Regards,

Well, most trucks have two temp sensors. One for the ECM to know what coolant temp is(Normally near or around the themrostat) and the other is normally screwed in the back of the engine(In the head, reading the temp of a water jacket) and that one os the one that feeds the gauge in the truck. The wire could have popped off, been broken, or the sensor went bad.

is that sensor easy to get to? I want to follow the wire to see if it is broken or something. Do you know where I can get a wiring diagram online for that truck? Or what color the wires are supposed to be. Thanks alot for the info.
