I have replaced all ten of the coil packs and plugs and yes, I was sure to use dialectric grease on all the boots.
It ran great for a couple of month's until I drove through a rain storm. the next day, I noticed a slight hesitation when under load in overdrive. It gradually got worse, especially while towing my camper.
Any suggestions? I have looked at the plug wells and do not see any water. Any way to troubleshoot the coils to se if any were affected by the rain. I get no code when I scan the DTC's.
Thanks,
John
I have had a similar problem and fixed by accident! I replaced all plugs carefully, still hesitated! Sent to Ford Dealer to diagnose, no luck, finally I was doing some routine maintenance work and cleaned the MAF sensor carefully, no miss or hesitation. My theory is when I cleaned the K&N air filter, I applied too much oil to it and it was carried through the intake tube and dirt collected on MAF sensor. After cleaning it has run like a top again, that was 9,000 miles ago and it odometer is ready to go over 100K this week. MAF is easy to clean, just use the proper electronic cleaner and let dry.
I sprayed the MAF sensor with electric cleaner, let dry, reconnected, test drive.
Still hesitates between 4th and OD, or most noticable anyway between these gears at low rpm.
Going to the local garage tomorrow for engine diagnosis.
Wish me luck.
John
