Oil Suitability
Well, I had been looking forward to changing my oil for the first time on my shiny new '06 Lariat 4x4 PSD SC. Got home from buying the 15qts of 10w30 Mobil1 and realized it is not rated for diesel engines. Says so right on the container. Has anybody use this oil in their rigs? Does Mobil1 make a 10w30 for specifically for diesels? If not which Mobil1 is everyone using? Thanks for the help.

I've not yet seen the Mobil 1 for Diesel engines for sale yet (The link KW provided), when I find it, I'll buy it!
Do not use the oil you bought in your PSD! It's not CI-4+ rated which is required for the 6.0 Power Stroke.
If you can't find the proper synthetic, use Delvac 1300, Delo 400 or Rotella dino, they are all great quality. Rotella synthetic is available at the Wal-Marts I frequent. Let us know what you find!

I've never found Delvac 1 synthetic for sale anywhere in the year I've owned my truck. I did find a distributor that had 55 gallon drums, my Wife shot that idea down rather quickly...

Agreed. I am stretching my oil change to 7,500 miles hoping it will hit the shelves soon. Plus, in mid June, the beast will be parked for 10 days while I am at a trade show in Chicago.

Mobil Turbo Diesel Truck
Yes, I got tired of waiting for this stuff to hit the shelves also, so I decided to order this oil from Autobarn last week. I should recieve it on 26May06 and will make the switch after running Delvac Super for 1 year to the Turbo Diesel truck. I will determine after running this new oil if there any benefits like fuel mileage improvements. If not, I may switch back to Delvac since I had no problems with this oil during the 1 year/23k miles of use (Great Oil).

Is there any break in period you must go through before using synthetic/ You can get the mobil 1 from your local bulk dealer in gallons and quarts. Check the yellow pages. Mine drops the oil for cars off at my house at no extra charge when I buy case lots.
