tryin to install a new mirror and having a little trouble getting the door panel off. I talked to the people at the ford dealership when i picked up new mirror and they didnt have a clue because the truck is too new (05 screw lariat). i got two small screws out of the bottom of the door panel and then the 2 screws that hold the handle on. One more screw that connects the arm rest to the door. Thats all the screws i can find......and it seems as the panel is catching somewhere on the side that is the closest to the hinges. I was told by the dealership to be careful so i dont break anything by tryin to force it off. Help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
aight lemme tell ya how it is. you need 5-10mm sockets. you can use a pick or flathead screwdriver to pry up on the window/lock switches, under which you would find the 10mm retaining bolt. on the bottom edges of the doors should be 6mm bolts, 2 of them i believe. use the pick to gently pry off the speaker grill, there are 4 5.5mm screws that retain the speaker. these must be removed, then take needle nose plyers and pull out the plastic pieces they screw into. also removed the little plastic cover for the door handle with a pick, behind it is two 8mm screws. you can leave it attached to the cable for a mirror install. then there are 3 nuts that retain the mirror after unplugging it which should be a 10mm however i have saw some with 11mm.
thanks......helped out but now i have a problem with the panel fitting snuggly back on! Truck has major issues right now and have to take it into dealership for all sorts of warranty work (4x4 not engaging, power mirrors not working, running way too rich, and battery keeps dyin)...therefore i will get them to get it back on correctly. Thanks alot!
