Okay.... we've got a bunch of things to do with the trailer in the back yard.... but the 40 gallon tank on Harrison will not allow any hitch to mount to the frame.
The trailer could be easily pulled by the '98 ranger (which we no longer have) from the bumper hitch, so I'm sure if we got one of those bumpers that have a flat spot under the tag area to mount a ball on it would work WONDERS for us. We'd like to get a chrome one - any ideas / links / problems to be aware of and where could I get one? I might as well go ahead and get the chrome FRONT bumer at the same time, too....
Again, I intend to pull nothing more than what I did with the Ranger....
I got mine from Keystone automotive parts in Augusta Ga. There should be one near you. They mainly distibute parts to body shops. They can get front and rear bumpers. I also bought a grill and light lens from them
FordPickup460..... H'mmmmm I wonder can I get a bumper hitch that fits under the bumper on the frame with the 40 gallon ford tank down there? I guess $200 either way sounds about right....
Anybody have some "GOOD" experiences with a trailer hitch AND they have the Ford optional 40 gallon tank?...
i was about to suggest going and trying your local junkyard for a step bumper, but then i figured you wanted something new and clean and sparkly, so nevermind.
Slash31938 - yup, nuttin' to set a beer can on fer shore. I need new sparkly bumper or a trailer hitch. Since this truck will be restored REEL soon, I'd like to get new parts.... it's got those crummby painted bumpers on him now (gag me with a spoon), prop yer foot up 'er on 'em and it looks nasty once you move it off, know what I mean?
yea i figgered that, but i have silver painted bumpers on my bronco and black ones on the old 250. easy to clean, just repaint, and you dont have to worry about trail damage or anything. but if your restoring you could find a period bumper in decent shape like you want and get it rechromed.
Slash --- hey....listen to what you're saying (writing).... that means I have to git out in the hot sun with sweat drippin' down my beer belly and the gnatz buzzin' all around me.... total time to junkyard and back (including search time); three hours..... $5 dollars in gas..... During that same time I could stay home and watch Spike TV and check out the latest TRUCK shows. I think I'll stay home.
I did find some nice bumpers at BroncoGraveyard, though... I'm lookin' into a "hidden hitch" under the frame setup now.... I really think that will aid in keeping the trailer level....
but trucks has gotten ghey without stacy, all there is is that big ol swole up steroid muncher and that other loser. not worth my time. and anyway, i always go to the junkyard early saturday or sunday morning, before it gets hot and before all the "foreigners" get there.
