Dana 60 spline count

Dana 60 spline count
How does one tell if a Dana 60 is 30-spline, 35-spline, etc? Do you have to pull the differential cover and count? My Dana is in the rear of a 2WD 69 F-250, open 3.73 gears, and I'm pretty sure it's dead stock.

Dana 60 spline count
All Dana 60 Ford rear axles were 16 spline until 73-75. In those years I have noticed a 50/50 split as to whether they had 16 or 30 spline axles. My 69F250 had the same 16 spline axles origionally.

Dana 60 spline count
I dont see them as being bad. I have Drag raced with them for 2 years now and have yet to break one. 71 f250 detroit locker 16 spline use mt street leagle slicks. 1.74 60' time. Thats a lot of load on axles.
