Got a 00 X Limited V10. Went up to the UP over the weekend. towed up a triple axle trailer with a collectors Dodge Dart and brought back a load of wood with a golf cart. On the return trip I had a hard time with the X wandering. Even to the point I got pulled over by the Mich State Police for weaving. Even with my 6x10 Wells Cargo it weaves. Does it sound like it's in need of an alignment? All the front end parts are new or newer but it was never aligned.

You are correct in that there is a flaw in the design of the springs. The springs are so long that they flex rotationally as well is up and down. There are several products on the market to prevent that. I'm running out the door but if someone doesn't post more before I get back from replacing my buddy's downpipe I'll dig up some more info on it. In the mean time do a search on "Radius Rods" and that will get you started. I would start with those and then if you want even more control I would suggest the "Hellwig Swaybar"
I tow a 30' Travel Trailer that weighs ~9,500 lbs with my Ex and do not have issues with wandering or stability at all. I do have a Helwig rear sway bar installed in the rear, but still have the Ford OE shocks (second set) installed. Alot has to do with proper hitch set-up. I, of course, use a good Reese weight distribution hitch with a sway control attached. If you just had that heavy 3-axle car hauler droped on the ball w/o any WD - there's your problem!!
It's not a matte of a WD hitch. I drove it this afternoon with no trailer and it's just as bad. It was in Friday before the trip for tire rotation and rear brakes, now it's all over the road.

The old fronts were cupped a bit but nothing major, new fronts are perfect. The max pressure for the tires is 65, Kelly Safari SUV load range E, but I'm not sure where they are at to be honest. Come to think about it, the last set of tires were the same kind but load range D, don't remember it being a wanderer then. I went with the E's because the D's would blow on an occasion.
You know, I'm just wondering if the two, now rear, tires being cupped would cause or add to this. Maybe the two fronts, old rears, may have broken belts. The tread is half gone on these tires so I'm wondering, beings I don't pay for anything on this beast, if I should have new tires put on. Any recommendations for stock size tires? Looking for a mildly aggresive tire, used for snowplowing in the winter.

That's what the guys at the tire shop my work deals with said! I guess I will be calling for prices today! The beast is going up to the cottage this weekend and I don't want to be stuck on I-75 changing a tire.

If you get the Revos, you'll love em. Tirerack.com rates them better than BFG's. Make sure to get the E-load range and you will be fine.
