Just came from the dealer w/ my first F150. 02 4.2L auto x/cab sb Dark Green.
She is a beauty, but more power never hurt anyone so where should I start to look at to increase performance? I want to know about some true and tried bolt on's aftermarket parts, air filters, computer chips, exhaust and more. Thanks for your help.
Congrats on buying your first F150! I have a 2003 F150 Supercab 4x4. I added a K&N Cold Air Intake (5.4) & Borla Cat-Back Stainless Steel Exhaust and noticed about 30 more horses plus it has that 'throaty sound' going down the road. Both of these were fairly easy to install, the hardest part was getting the factory exhaust off but the new one went on real easy. Good Luck and hope you love your truck.
I usually find the best prices on Ebay, just watch out that they don't get on shipping. I just do a search on Ebay Automotive for 2003 F150 and tons of items come up. You can narrow the search down from there depending on what you want.
For a simple and quick updgrade a K&N FIPK kit is a must. It gave me an additional 2 to 3 miles to the gallon. With Gas Prices they way they are it will pay for itself in no time not to mention the additional power! I also got mine off of fleabay.
