It's alive again!

I got my replacement engine out and put in my truck. I have a few things to finish yet but not far from being down. Have to hook up the driveshaft, fix a couple of exhaust leaks, and get it timed (changed distributor).

Speaking of timing why does the 300 six have 2 different timing marks on the damper? My replacement engine doesn't have one to the left of the front of the engine. Is it okay to use the one that runs down the camshaft cover? It should get me pretty close shouldn't it?

I got it started up and it runs great! It doesn't shake any or miss out at idle. I think this engine was rebuilt or something. Runs to good to have just been in a old beat up truck. I put a flat washer on the valve cover and it didn't move any. Not bad for a $150 parts truck. Oil pressure was good - holds 22 psi at idle and goes up to about 50 when you rev it up some.

Can't wait to get it finished so I can try it out on the road and see what it can do.

The tab/arrow is the one to use.
Some dampers have NO marks.
I go by ear....sounds like you could too.
Congrats!
