HFCM filter replacement

I replaced the HFCM filter for the second time. The first time I bought Wix filters and this time I bought filters from International. Both times the cap does not screw in until the lip of the cap touches the HFCM housing. Is this normal and does anyone know how much a replacement cap costs? I am afraid the cap is going to crack. I does not go in very easy even though I have cleaned the threads inside the HFCM. Any advice would be great.

Thanks,
Jayme

Some of the caps I have seen do not thread in easily, but I have never seen one that had to be pushed in until the lip touched the housing to thread in. They are kinda pricey retail from the Ford dealer, but if you are friendly with a wholesale parts guy one can be had for about $55. I wouldn't risk a problem with it, replace it.

Thanks for the reply, I was not sure if the cap was suppose screw all the way in to the point that the lip touched the HFCM housing. My oil and the other fuel filter screw all the way in and the lip of the cap touches the housing for those filters.
