I rebuilt the steering box on my F-100 and I have a little leak from where the thrust bolt comes through the plate on the side. I have tried a small oil drain plug washer and this didn't do anything. Does anyone have any other ideas?
Many years ago I had a leak in a steering box in a 34 Plymouth. A friend suggested I start adding STP to it instead of gear oil. I tried it and it leaked less and less over time as I kept filling it with STP. Eventually it stopped leaking and I never had any more problems with it. I suppose it had something to do with the thickness of the STP. I didn't notice any difference in how the steering gear worked.
