Engine Rebuild Cost

Can I get some estimates of how much it cost to do a complete engine rebuild of the 300! I am now considering rebuilding mine, but want some estimates of what it will cost. Thanks

New bore and pistons with rods pressed on , new cam with bearing installed, head job with guides, head surfaced cleaning of block and head, engine kit and some hand holding. Total of......... $1425.54......... I assembled the parts myself. There were multi part runs for sealer, extra gaskets and misc. Then I find out after assy of old computer and intake that I had the same black an blue smoke...So the add Clifford and Holly and EFI and GM HEI and....... Hope you have deep pockets.

Im almost ready for my rebuild, im going for a fairly mild build up, but not stock. The price will depend on if you want just a stock engine or want some aftermarket performance parts. If I remember correctly Col Flashman's rebuild was in the ballpark of $4200.00. But he has many aftermarket and custom parts. I'll let you know my final build cost in the next few weeks.

Ballpark for a Basic Stock Build is between $1,500.00 & $1,800.00.

I don't mean to be an ***, but that is higher than what I have been paying for a rebuild. Where are you getting your parts?

These builds are also not being done @ some corner Knock-off Shop, JMS Racing Engines does extreme amount of Hand Fitting & being in Pasa California, w/ it's extremely high Fuel Prices, that adds to the cost.

If you buy parts one at a time and have a lot of machine shop work done it's easy to get over $1k in a "stock" rebuild. If you shop around for discounted parts and rebuild kits, and require minimal machine shop work then you can get off for much less. There are a couple of ppl on eBay selling rebuilt 300 long blocks for around $800, but $1200+ is more common.

I have got about $1800 in mine and that includes machine shop fees, aluminum pistons, Napa cam, gaskets, lifters, timing set, Offy intake, Headmen header, air cleaner, valve cover, and some misc.
