Egr

What does it mean to have a little coolant residue under the EGR?

Define under? No coolant should be present unless you have a leak.

egr cooler is leaking. High egt melts the brazing inside the cooler assembly. Overboosting is a likely cause of this. Others can be the cause, but by far its overboost

Letting the coolant run too low that the EGR cooler is empty will also cause them to melt down... and fast. But, are you sure it's coolant??

I pulled the EGR up and out of it's location to see if it needed cleaning and notice some sort of moisture and thought it had to be coolant. No I'm not sure it was coolant.

I've removed quite a few EGR valves, and sometimes there is a bit of moisture on them. Are you losing coolant? Normally when an EGR cooler is leaking, I find that the valve is almost covered in mud, or very clean depending on how severe the leak is, and sometimes the o-ring is melted. As gross as it maybe, I give them the taste test to determine whether or not it is coolant.

Coolant level seems to be the same. No I could not bare to taste that moisture and the vehicle seems to be running well.
