When I got my 83f100 I thought it had 351w in it. Eventaully I had to work on it. Found it had 302 timing, the dist. gear was chewed, some teeth missing on cam gear. Got new 351w cam & dist. got back to normal? A freind & cousin of mine was looking at the motor, was saying it was a 351c, even though it had an Edelbroc Performer Intake with 351w casted on it, something about the spark plugs were longer then the 351w. Whats the difference between the Cleveland & Windsor motors? Does the heads enterchange?
W has the water intake and thermostat housing on the intake manifold.
C has it in almost the same place, but it goes into the block instead of the intake.
C & W heads are not interchangeable without serious modification. Such swaps are no longer the hot ticket as better heads are available for the W.
W motors are easier to build and live with at this point.
302 and 351 distributors are not interchangable either, as the 351 is a taller block, with a wider intake and thus the intake will be higher off the cam than the 302.
