Here in the next few weeks when I get time I plan on installing a B&M shift improver kit (http://www.bmracing.com/index.php?id...s&sid=2&cat=12). Also, I plan to add a bottle of TransX additive when I change the fluid.
What are your thoughts on the shift improver kit? Will it benefit me? Will it do more harm than good?
A shift kit a fine for improving shift quality but it sounds like you have some problems with your C6. A shift kit won't fix a broken tranny. You'll likely need to do an overhaul first.
Shift kits normally only deal with the valve body, transfer plates, and possibly some accumulators/servos. The link didn't work when I clicked on it, so I don't know what's in the one you are looking at. However, to recondition seals you replace them, and that means a total tranny tear down. Also, if you are going to up pressure (which you must do to increase shift crispness) you should have a fresh tranny, because if there is any weakness in that tranny the first time you get on the throttle to merge into traffic, show off, or get out of a mud hole you can kiss the tranny goodbye.
With all that said, they make a big difference in shift feel/quality, and sometimes can improve the life of the tranny.
