is it normal

for an auto tranny to leak fuild on the floor without the driveshaft attached ? i have the driveshaft removed so i can have it shortened ( 302 with a c-4 in a 1955 f100) and the tranny is leaking on the floor . it is not a big deal but it is kinda a pain because every time i want to start the engine i am putting fluid in the trans . thanks

yup. no driveshaft = oil on floor

thanks , i know that it leaked when i pulled the drive shaft out . i guess i had better get my butt in gear and cut the thing too the right length .

when i pull a driveshaft on an auto trans, i always cut a soda bottle to fit the tailshaft, then tape it on with duct tape.
