I am having the same problem with my 06 diesel, I think it's that the computer is looking for a flow in the egr path, ie a voltage on a pressure switch etc. Does anyone have a comments on this idea?
Even tho I haven't done it, the best way I heard to do it is get another EGR valve, ty-rap it to the engine and plug it in..Fakes out the computer. lite stays out...Good Luck...
I have a second egr valve on the truck and light stays on. I think the computer is sensing that there is no flow in the egr system. I have ordered a book on the emissons system of the 6.0, it may have some answers. thanks guys.
The EGR disconnect with the CEL staying on used to be an issue only for CA models. Looks like it is now a 50 state issue. I live in CA and have left it in. I use diesel additive which should help keep it cleaner. You can also take it out and clean it too. Some guy on here used brake cleaner to get the soot off.
