I have a 96 E series, with a 4.10 limited slip rear. It feels like it is not working right. When I make turns it seems to chatter some or jump around the turns like it is locked. Do they just get worse and die on the road? It seems fine going straight. I am usually about 50-70 miles away at my jobs. I would rather not have it quit on the road. If it is not working, does it need to be rebuilt or??? Thanks for any help.
Try adding some friction modifier to see if it helps. A small bottle is only a few bucks at the dealer.
A better solution may be to have the fluid replaced if it's been a while, then you know the fluid is good and you can add the friction modifier when you do this also.
Note that some aftermarket fluids already have friction modifier in it - the bottle will tell ya.
Typically, when the clutch packs go, you just have a non-LSD. They don't usually lock up or leave you stranded.
