I need help.

I'm picking up a 460 this week and wanted to know if theres any thing I should/could do to my truck (68 f100) before picking up the other engine. My good ol' 300 six broke down the other day. I want to get my truck back on the road within 2 weeks.

I dont know what year the 460 is but it came out of a lincoln. The engine needs to be rebuilt cause one of the cylinders isnt holding pressure too well. I'm thinking about rebuilding the whole thing since it all has to come apart anyway.

This truck is a daily driver thats gonna be driven 50+ miles to the track. I wanted to know if the Scat 4.5" crankshaft would be too much for a daily driver? Also does anybody make a top end rebuild kit thats got performance heads(assembled), cam, intake, and all the gaskets and bolts needed to install all of it?

And what 4,5, or 6 speed manual tranny will hook up to this engine?

OK the 4.5" stroke crank will work in any of the factory blocks, but I really recommend the 4.3" stroke, since you said it came from a linclon it's a ealier block instead of hte D9TE blocks with the longer cyl walls so you will have better support at BDC, the next thing the shorter stroke will make it easier to keep the pin out of the oil control ring so less likely to burn oil, and although it's fairly marginal the rod ratio will be a little better with the shorter stroke so less side loading of the pistons and longer life which I assume you are looking for. And even at .030 over bore it's still a 521cid engine.
As far as heads, what is your budget? I really like the TFS street heads, they are a very nice casing although they do have hte smaller chambers so your going to have to watch your compression although with alum heads you can run higher compression without detonation easier. These heads are direct bolt ons flow pretty decent even without porting and respond really well to some mild porting, come with good valves screwin studs and guide plates but I would recommend getting a stud girdel for them also from Jomar. No one that I know of makes a top end kit like your asking about sorry.

My budget is $3000. But I want to keep cost down as low as possible.

What are the TFS street heads and where can I find info about them?

U also said the 4.3" stroke is what I'll want, but which brand is more reliable?

Also sugestions on cams would be helpful. In fact if anybody could give me a list of parts from the crankshaft to the carb that would be REALY helpful.

I want to get at least 500 HP & 700 Ft-lbs of trq.

I just picked up the engine. The guy said it was a 77 model. Its all stock. He gave me an Offenhauser "Port Sonic" intake manifold. What info can yall give me about that manifold?

He also gave me a c-6 with a 3000 rpm stall converter. I'll trade that for a 5 or 6 speed tranny.

I'm also not going to switch to a stroker crank. Probly just aftermarket rods, pistons, and maybe heads.Unless the stockers can be ported cheap enough.

Who sells a complete engine rebuild kit, all the bearings and gaskets and plugs?
