Stopped in to the local Ford dealer yesterday and gave them the part #'s
Ford # 6E7Z-9C082-A,, said it's a good #,, but come's from the Blue Diamond Co. ,and will call when in a few days,,$16.00 bucks is what he said.
My son is taking machine & tool in tech school,,and is like top in his class,,he has made some cool stuff,,will let him look at it,,take the old plug(when I remove it) and see if he can cut the threads, O-ring grove and so on,, turn it out of a solid piece of brass,,and maybe come up with an actuall valve for these things, to drain them easy,,will see,,?
I bought the updated plug and installed it yesterday. I had no problems. But you have to screw the plug into the hole before it will go all the way in. I believe you could drain without a wrench if you had to. I bought the plug at the Kansas City International Truck parts store for $12.85. Also bought fuel ($32.00) and oil filters ($17.99). I am going to quit using WIX fuel filters because the new WIX fuel filter does not have the wrap that separates water. WIX must be making their own fuel filters now because the top and bottom are black and they used to be tan.

Welcome EARP... I too shop at KCI Truck... I live in DeSoto, KS.
Cool place huh? I was one of the first to post that going to IH dealer was the cheapest and least costly way to get Racor quality filters for our 6.0L trucks.
I buy fuel filters from them and purchased the revised drain plug from Shawnee Mission Ford last summer. Great plug huh???
Hey, hows the apple crop and cider business doing?????
