Another conversion question. Exhausted the search feature.
Hello all,
I'm interested in doing the drum to disc conversion on my '72 F-100
4x4. I know there have been all kinds of posts and I have read many of them regarding this. Either I'm a little clueless or they all seem to be geared towards the 2 wheel drive. What is the best way to tackle this? Did the '72 4x4 ever come with disc brakes up front? If I get a newer donor Front diff will I have to modify it or can I just tear it up for the required parts? Is there an aftermarket kit available? Any information would be welcome as I'll be finishing up the rear end soon and I'll want to start working on the front. I have a donor '72 Camper Special, are any of the disc bits useable for this?
Thanks in advance,
Don W.

I did the same conversion to my 70 F100 4x4. Use the entire bronco stuff (or F150) from the frame down. This includes the tie rods, drag links, springs, etc.

Thanks for all the help, I would assume by the etc. that I would use the donor truck radius arms as well? Please forgive my ignorance I'm doing all of this for the first time.

Don
the radius arms are the same, but i used the 78 bronco's since
they were 10 yrs newer
Also a 78-79 F-150 4x4 will work, and if you find either with
the quad(4) shock setup you can use that too!

Tom , after reading all the posts in this thread---I'm wondering if it would be possible to utilize the ps components off a 79 bronco to convert a 77 f250--4x4--(with a d44 hd front axle)over to p steering , given the fact the bronco also has a d44 axle-----would like your opinion on this situation---and if its worth the investment...and what is a good range of values to expect---I don't want the whole vehicle---just the parts necessary to make the conversion---i.e.---what all should i "get" while i'm there???thanks for your help , fd
