Tranny Linkage Problem

Tranny Linkage Problem

My transmission (c6) came out of a lincoln. I already rebuilt it and solved all my tailshaft issues, but now I've noticed that the linkage to the shift rod (steering column type) is different than the truck type.

Long story short, i need to take off both the kickdown lever and the piece on the tranny that connects to the shift rod from the column. How do i do it?

Do I need to be more clear in my question?

There are two levers on the driver's side of the transmission. One is the kickdown and one is the shift lever.

The kickdown is just held on by a nut, whereas the shift lever has some sort of system i cant figure out.

You need to be more clear on what year your truck is ?

No where in your post did you mention that

There are a few designs on C6 transmission linkages

The kick down comes off the out side by remnoving the nut. The shift lever has a nut inside the case. Remove it and the lever will slide out.

My truck is a 78, the tranny is from a 76 lincoln.

Yeah the last c-6 i rebuilt was from a 70 lincoln with the ribbed back and it was that way. All the 2wd and 4wd i have seen have been that way.

On a 78 the NSS is located on the side of the transmission.
The single shifter arm comes from column dsifferntly than it does on the Lincoln.
The Lincoln may even have a cable linkage as opposed to the rod.

I should have illustrations of each.

These are for the 78 Truck.
