Steering Column Alignment

67 F-100 Camper Special

I have had two of these trucks and on both, the steering column is angled slighly toward the center of the cab. On the first one, I figured it was just a factory defect but now my second on has the same characteristic. Is this common to this year pickup?

I have the same problem, but my column is pointing toward the outside instead. The previous owner of my, 69 F100, converted it from manual steering to power. Have not really taken the time to see if it can be straighten or not. Maybe someone out there has a suggestion??

Good observations. The steering column is supposed to be angled slightly to the driver's side. This actually was a feature designed to give more room in the cab according to the sales brochures. The angle is so small I would have never noticed it until someone else pointed it out a while ago. Now it bugs me.

Mine was crooked too, but when I installed the tilt/cruise column I fixed it I like it better the new way.. It lines up with the dash and my butt in the seat.

Never noticed it before I read this post. I think you're supposed to drive these trucks with the window rolled down and your big hairy arm resting on the ledge...then the steering column makes sense.

Hey Sedric you pointed out something that I’ve always liked about the ‘67-’72 cabs. The window ledges are nice, extra wide and flat and just the right height. Perfect for resting that big hairy arm on those long drives!

Oh thanks!! I was raised with these trucks and have owned two of them but never noticed it. Now it will drive me nuts. Oh well I guess that is part of her charm.
