Blue CPS how and why?

I just installed the blue CPS. Idle is profoundly quieter but rpm remained the same as stock unit. From a purely mechanical aspect, what changed to achieve this new quiet state? Has anyone run this CPS for an extended period of time and what are your observations? This blue CPS is not intended for the 7.3 and the head diameter is smaller ( note chamfer on end ), the body is out of the block about a quarter inch more than stock International. This blue CPS is intended for use in the DT-466. Have we inadvertantly retarded the timing by installing the smaller chamfered head "blue" and if so what are the long and short term ramifications of prolonged operation?

The blue unit advances the timing. Better mileage and quieter idle are some of the results.

the contacts are pure gold coated, not "a different material" than what is used on the black ones. supposedly the gold can transmit the signal faster and it gives a more accurate signal to whatever it sends it to, and it makes it more precise on the timing, however i do not think it advances or retards the timing (however i'm probably wrong ) my belief is that it would have to be offset in the counterbore to advance the timing, and at that, it would be a set advance, not an advance that is proportional to engine speed.

do you think it would make the EGT's higher with the blue one cause thats the one i have in my truck and my EGT's seem alittle bit higher ordered a black one last night on Ebay so I think I am going to change it back to the black one. Will keep the blue one for a spare going to get a chip from Jody and he recomends the black one anyway right?
