This has nothing to do with a truck problem (well it does,a little)
The person living next to me has a cat that they let roam freely. This damn cat is always getting on my hood of my truck. My question is how can i keep this cat off my hood, before it gets all scrached up.
shoot it, put some anti-freeze out or wait with a hose and get it while its sleeping.
nah im just kidding, all except the hose part. um, there is some scent sprays that veteranarian offices might have, or pets mart or some kind of pet store, its supposed to repel cats. i know that cats dont like the smell of citrus, or oranges.. maybe try some kind of orange scented wax/wash?
its only loving your hood because its warm. it could easily climb up into your engine compartment, and that will take care of it... CRANK.... meoooooooooooowww!
Try something like this. It is only one example of an ultrasonic pest deterrent. If you use a search engine just type in "ultrasonic pest {or animal} deterrent" and you'll get a few options. The one I use cost me around $50.00.
I used to have some morons next door that had 13 cats and I own a bass boat. Cats+Boat = major anger. I put a motion sensor ultrasonic repeler on the ceiling of the canopy pointing straight down at the boat. It only took about 3 days before they left the boat alone. Took 3 years to lose the neighbors, but that is a story for another day.
I'm not against capital punishment for trespassing cats, but some states have laws against animal cruelty and nobody wants to kill some kids pet. The problem with cat owners is they think their precious felines couldn't possibly bother anyone so they do nothing. If the cat somehow "disappears" they will only get another one.
I had the same problem, but since I like animals and would never intentionally hurt one unless it was being aggressive, here's what I did. First I put a thick blanket on top of my hood to keep the cat from scratching it when I did what was coming next. I would wait until I saw the cat on the hood and then press the panic button on the remote firing off the horn. After a few times of doing this, the cat stopped getting on my hood.
Take the truck and get it detailed to get the muddy footprints off.
Give the bill for the detailing and a copy of the picture to your neighbors. They will most likely not pay it.
Tell them next time you will take them to small claims court for the cost of the detail, maybe it will get their attention.
Also, have you contacted animal control? My town passed a leash law ordinance for cats about a year ago. Animal Control can now issue fines and citations for stray cats. $50.00 a whack can change alot of bad behaviors fron inconsiderate cat owners.
i think i would have to take one of those paintball guns to it. that wouldnt kill it but i bet it wouldnt come back, and the neighbors would have a tye-dyed cat!

i was only kidding about the killing and the poisoning, but seriously... water is the way to go. i have cats and the only way to "condition" them is with a spray bottle. they get the point after getting wet a few times. the hose wont kill it, and will definatly do less damage to the cat, as well as your paint than a paintball gun would.

Wire a coil off the batter directly to the body of the truck with a switch. Go to bed, kick the switch on..........Kitty should get a "charge" out of life
