I'm an accident investigator. I have photographs of what was reported to be a 1973 Ford F-250 that was involved in a headon accident. The truck was totaled and junked before I got to see it. I think the pickup is really a '72, burt I haven't been able to locate one. I was wondering whether any one that owns a '72 could provide me with some info. I need some dimensions and weight. I would be glad to email the photos if that would help. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
hi i have a 1972 F-100 you can e-mail me the pictures and i can see what i can do post the vin # and we will difne it for you a 1972 has almost like an arrow running down the middle of the truck a 73 has a indintion running down the side also the have totally different grills
Keven, The easiest way to tell is to measure the frame rails under the cab as far forward as you can and measure them at the rear bumper. In 73 Ford widened the chassis just behind the cab, and the rear axle as well. This allowed the rear wheels to track the front. From the 50s to 72 the rails are the same width from front to back. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the responses. Unfortunately, I don't know the VIN and the truck is long gone. I have only a set of photocopied pictures. They're not too bad so I will try to scan them and post a couple. I think the side trim is the "arrow" type and not the groove you see on the 73. The grill also looks like a 72 and not a 73.
I would be happy to donate $20.00.
I have posted two of the crash scene photogrpahs of this truck.
For any one who is interested in helping, I need to know the approximate weight of the truck and the distance from the driver's side of the truck that the crash damage extends toward the center of the truck. If a had the truck I could simply measure from the end of the bumper in to the furthest point on the bumper that came in contact with the other car. Without the actual truck I would normally find a simlar truck and take measurements on that truck based on what I see in the photographs. But that's my problem here I can't locate a similar truck. Again, thanmks for any help.
Kevin the front bumpers are the same from 65 to 79. The truck frames are the same from the rear of the cab to the front bumperfrom 65 to 79. The truck will weigh in at around 5500/6,000 lbs. and the one in the photo appears to be a 72. If you want to email me directly at my address below, I will try to answer your questions.
