67 Ford Speedometer Problem

67 Ford Speedometer Problem
I have a 1967 F-100, 240 six cyl, 3 speed. When I accelerate the needle bounces up and down until it reaches 50 mph. After 50 it works perfect. Anybody know what causes this?

The cable is probably hanging up and releasing, thus causing the needle bounce. I would disconnect it at the head and apply some graphite for starters.

Yeh, I would guess your cable housing has a bad spot or you just might need to add some lube. If the housing is bad, most of your local parts stores can get the complete assembly.
