Setting Camber Angle

I got the donor front coil springs on my 67. However...now the front tires on my truck slant BAD. The top of the tire is way out past the bottom How do you adjust this???

Setting Camber Angle

It takes special tooling & setup that actually bends the I-beam. I doubt your local tire store could preform this type of allignment. I would check to make sure you got the right springs before doing any bending. Is it possible to swap the I-beams from the donor truck also; asumeing it is in good allignment?

Setting Camber Angle

This is probably a stupid answer but, On my 71 sometimes when you lift the whole front end and let it back down the wheels will look like what you are discribing until you roll it alittle. When you lift it it allows the I-beams to drop down which will change the camber, until you put weight back on it and roll it which allows the tires to move back on the right plane. Sounds stupid I know and probably not explained very well. If you have'nt moved the truck try it before you do anything else. Don't cost a dime to try.

Well I did try the rolling thing...no luck. I found a very reputable shop here that says they can bend them for $125. Doesn't sound to bad to me. I did put my original springs back on, at least for the time being. I am gonna wait and decide on what to do.

That seems too expensive to me. There's only one shop in my town that still does this kind of work. I had one of my trucks done about a month ago for $50.00 plus tax. It takes less then an hour, and it made a big improvement on how my truck handles. Basically all they do is chain one end of the I-beam down to a specialized frame, and then jack the beam up up in the middle with a 20 ton or more jack. I guess sometimes they would chain it in the middle and jack it on the end. It depends on which way the camber has to go.

I agree,
that sounds too exspensive. My local Firestone Shop will do a complete alignment, witch includes adjusting camber, setting toe-in with a computerized alignment machine, and they would also set the "caster", but theres no adjustment for that with I-beams, and it usually don't need it. All this, and the price? $59.95
