I am trying to replace the seal in a gearbox out of a 72 F100, I think it is the Ford unit and not the Bendix one. How do you remove the top portion and pitman shaft seal? I took the bolts off the top, but it won't come off. I can't see anything holding the pitman end seals in. Any help would be appreciated.
Aaron
Aaron, There are two seals in the bottom of the unit. First you will need to pull the nut off the bottom and remove the pittman arm and you will see where to go from there. I recently completed a replacement in about an hour.
