I just bought a 96 F350 and it has a 3 position flip switch box installed. It is mounted back behind the metal bracket for the emergency brake and I cannot get at it to see what it is. I looks old and a little rusty, has a metal enclosure. I definately works but I am trying to find out what it is. Anyone ever seen something like it? It looks pretty old.
the brake pedal comes off with three 13mm nuts. and the pcm is right there. where the chip plugs into is right on the back side of pcm in plain view.
welcome to fte
Didn't know that was the PCM. Strange thing is that the wires from the three position flip switch go right into the PCM box. I will have to have a closer look. I do not see a box or chip plugged into the PCM in plain view.
yes but if a chip has never been installed on the pcm it has some protective coating that needs to be scraped off. the pcm has to come out for that and taken apart to get both sides clean enough.
