tuner or just update stock programming?
I just picked up a 2004 F-150. I don't know if the computer programming has been updated, and was wondering if it would even matter if I was to buy a tuner. I am familiar with chips and diesels, but don't know much about the gas engine tuners. Does the tuner change throttle feel like it does in the diesel. My truck also has 275/70/18's so the speedo is a little off, which the programmer would let me adjust.
How much are tuners and what is a good brand? Does it change empty fuel mileage?

all your answers will be coming in soon, you will see an improvement but not like your diesel my choice is Edge Evolution if you have 5.4 - part#EEF-2400 check discount power parts last and you'll see they have best price or they will beat any price these guys talk FORD I don't know what the out come would be if there was a tuner installed that was not returned to stock spend some time reading threads in this forum on tuners

Throttle response is greatly improved and trany shift firmness will make you smile. The Edge is by far the best unit on the market for your truck. Not only does it make the truck feel like it should, but you get all the gauges you could want. It also has differant 1/4 mile features so you can see how your truck is performing. It also does fix tire size. Plus if you dont want it mounted on the dash in plain veiw, you can install the programming and remove the unit and store it away in a safe place. Yes it does come with the sweet looking gauge POD mount. We have sold probably 200 of these and have only had one problem, and Edge was all over it.
I dont know why we have sold so many of them lol.

Ok,
Just ordered the Edge evolution from Discount Power Parts for a killer deal it seems! Whith 87 fuel, what setting are recommended? Stage 2 tow with the transmission 2 firmer? Does the tow program alter shift points?

with 87 set prog. #2(tow) try this before any other prog. changes you will feel the differance.For a good kick run out that 87 refill with high oct.(91-93) instructions are easy , will display info from intake air temp to 0-60mph times. Yes it will alter shift pressure , plus you can enter custom programs ( timing, shift, spedo cal,speed lim.,rev lim.)
