If you know someone with another truck that has a Duraspark system, Iit only takes a few minutes to swap a known good module to test it.
They will go bad over time, and sometimes it's kinda dramatic. The plastic compound inside the bottom overheats and runs all over the place...
I would not ever run one from a scrapyard because you can't know how long it will last. But replacements are only about ten to fourteen bucks.
ANY parts store should be able to test it. Call around and ask instead of "doing the town" by car. Somebody will have a tester.
