It took me 3 years, too much money to count, and a LOT of hours, but I got my truck running. Spent 3 hours figuring out why it wouldn't crank, bad solenoid. But she cranks under her own power, fires, and drives. Now I gotta get it out and show all these lil boys with their bowties down here what a real truck looks like.
How long did it take any of you guys to get your project going?
LOL - I'll let you know if I ever stick with one long enough to finish! Congrats on getting yours going. Money and time can come and go, but the satisfaction of a job well done can last forever.
Mine is comong up on one year in early June. Valve cover created a hole so i went all the way down to heads to have then checked. Now just getting he necessary gaskets and stuff to put it all back together.
Always feels good to get one done... got a few waiting right now, and they are about 600 miles away... can't get too much done that way... working on taking care of that problem.
Guess ole FiftyFour dont wanna go too well...she is only runnin on 4 of 8 cylinders...i have some valves stickin. So I'm gonna tear her heart down this week and see if i can't get her pumpin like a good ole Blue Oval can and does. But I did drive it before I graduated...even if it was only on 4 cylinders and around the block..it was an accomplishment for me..made Dad tear up(I think because he was proud). Just a lil progress note for you guys...pretty soon I hope to make an Iowa Tour..so look out for a "54ed Orange"(paint color name) coming down the road...she'll be a rumblin "blank"(you get the picture).
Got it running smooth as glass finally! Now I have to align it and take it out of what will be the first of probably many shakedown runs. Still plan on doing the Iowa tour if I can get some parts switched out in time.
